QPR defender Mbengue set to miss rest of the season

QPR defender Amadou Mbengue is set to miss the rest of the season.
Mbengue, 24, was stretchered off with a knee injury during the midweek win against Derby.
Initial tests suggest that he has suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage.
The full results of an assessment are due on Monday, but they are expected to bring confirmation of the ACL injury.
Mbengue has made 53 appearances for the R’s since arriving from Reading in the summer of 2025.
His injury coincides with QPR winger Karamoko Dembele returning to action following his own ACL injury.
Dembele, sidelined since January, featured for Rangers’ development side in a match against Bristol City on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Richard Kone has been given the all-clear after going off in the final stages of QPR’s defeat at Birmingham on Saturday.
Kone, who has struggled for fitness and form so far this season, recently suffered a knee injury while playing for Rangers’ development side.
And it was feared he had suffered another significant setback when he left the field at St Andrews, where he had been sent on as a second-half substitute.
Rangers, who lost 3-0, ended the match with 10 men as they had already made all their permitted substitutions when Kone went off.
But tests have shown no cause for major concern, and the striker is expected to train this week and be available for Saturday’s home game against Championship leaders Swansea City.
