Bassong, Hall and two trialists play in QPR U23 game

Former Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong is training with QPR and featured in an Under-23 match on Monday afternoon, as did Grant Hall.

Centre-back Bassong, 32,  was named among Rangers’ substitutes for the game against Nottingham Forest, which ended in a 3-3 draw.  Deshane Dalling, Aramide Oteh – with a penalty – and Ilias Chair scored for the hosts.

Bassong, who is without a club, last played a competitive game in March 2017, for Norwich City, where he spent five years after a three-year spell at Spurs. The Cameroon international has also played for Newcastle and on loan at Wolves and Watford.

He came on after half an hour of the game at Rangers’ Harlington training ground, replacing the injured Giles Phillips.

Meanwhile, Nathan Oduwa, also previously of Tottenham, has joined the R’s on trial along with Montel Agyemang – both played the full 90 minutes.

Winger Oduwa, 22, had spells on loan at Glasgow Rangers, Luton, Colchester and Peterborough before being released by Spurs last year. He has since played in Slovenia.

Midfielder Agyemang, 21, has played for a number of non-League clubs since leaving Leyton Orient in 2016, the most recent being Wealdstone.

Defender Chris Paul, who was released by QPR earlier this year, is training with them while searching for a new club and like Bassong was named among the substitutes.

Hall continued his comeback from injury by playing an hour before being replaced by Paul.

  • I first started going to QPR when I was twelve, that was 58 years ago and I can honestly say that I am ashamed of the current setup.I see us only going one way ,DOWN,I blame the current Heiracy for the shambolic way they have run the club into the ground,Tony Fernandes,Les ferdinand,Lee Hoos,Named and Shamed, you are all a disgrace in the annals of QPR history.

  • Very desperate last minute there is no time to intergrate these players into a very poor group by the time you do you’ll be well and truest in the brown stuff haha
