McClaren wants loan signings after QPR are thrashed

Steve McClaren said he was “shocked” after QPR’s “unacceptable” performance against West Brom.

Rangers were hammered 7-1 at The Hawthorns and have lost all of their three league games under McClaren.

They folded in the second half after an equaliser by Joel Lynch had sent them in at the interval on level terms.

“We were fine, came back from conceding a goal and ended the first half on top,” said McClaren.

“At 3-1 down we collapsed and that’s unacceptable. I’m shocked. I never saw that coming at half-time. I thought they were excellent.”

McClaren felt his gameplan was working well and that the second-half horror show underlined the need for Rangers to bring in experienced players on loan.

“We executed the gameplan and grew into the game,” he said.

“We need reinforcements to help these young players because after the third goal we couldn’t cope. It wasn’t down to tactics or anything.

“You need to go through the fire sometimes to come out the other end. This is certainly the fire and we need to come out of it.”
