Chelsea skipper Terry to miss Arsenal game

Chelsea captain John Terry has been ruled out of Saturday’s derby against Arsenal.

Terry, 35, has missed his team’s last two matches after straining ligaments near his foot during the recent 2-2 at Swansea.

It was hoped that he would return for the game at the Emirates Stadium, but the former England defender is still unavailable.

“He’s working but he didn’t recover for the game against Arsenal,” Blues boss Antonio Conte confirmed.

David Luiz is therefore likely to continue alongside Gary Cahill at the heart of the Chelsea defence against the Gunners.

Terry will be assessed next week but Conte is unsure when he will be able to return to action.

“I don’t know because in this case it is important what the player feels and the pain they feel,” said the Italian.
