QPR in ‘really good position’ after transfer window – Warburton

Mark Warburton has insisted that QPR are in a “really good position” after the transfer window despite some of their promotion rivals spending heavily.

Speaking to West London Sport’s Dan Bennett and Ian McCullough, the Rangers manager said he did not believe the club were in danger of being left behind because of their relatively modest spending.

He also reflected on not getting the attacking player he wanted and explained the decision to bring in another midfielder in Jeff Hendrick despite already having plenty of good options in that position.

Warburton said: “When we get to the last third of the season, and we’re not far away from that now, it’s making sure we have the depth, the quality and the experience to see through some big games.

“It was one of those names and one of those deals that suddenly became available under the radar.

“We knew other Championship clubs would immediately move for him when that became news but thankfully we got ahead of the pack and got the deal over the line.”

Warburton also talked about Ilias Chair’s return from the Africa Cup of Nations, reports of interest in Rangers’ star players, and the decision to let Jordy de Wijs leave on loan.
