Spurs reluctant to let Dawson go

Tottenham have told QPR they are now unlikely to allow Michael Dawson to leave White Hart Lane.

It follows news that Spurs defender Younes Kaboul will be sidelined for up to four months with a knee injury.

The north London club had accepted an offer from Rangers for Dawson, who was not in manager Andre Villas-Boas’ first-team plans but may now have a role to play.

Dawson appeared reluctant to make the move to Loftus Road but QPR were still hopeful of persuading him to join them before the transfer window closed.

Rangers are expected to hold further talks regarding Dawson on Friday to see if they can thrash out a deal ahead of the deadline.

R’s boss Mark Hughes has lined up a number of other possible signings in case he is unable to capture Dawson.
