QPR may make another move for Dawson

QPR could make another attempt to sign Michael Dawson from Tottenham when the transfer window reopens.

Rangers had an offer for the 28-year-old defender accepted last month but were unable to convince him to make the move to Loftus Road.

An injury to Younès Kaboul then meant Spurs became reluctant to let Dawson leave, ruining Mark Hughes’ hopes of persuading him to sign before the deadline.

But the R’s boss has indicated that Dawson may be an option in January if he is unable to hold down a first-team place at White Hart Lane.

Hughes said: “It would have been a good acquisition had we been able to do it, but it wasn’t to be.

“That situation possibly happened too quickly for him to understand what his future is at Spurs. Maybe in January it might be different if he’s out of the team.

“We might have moved on by then, but you never say never. Sometimes, though, when it gets that close and isn’t concluded then it’s not meant to be.”

Rangers’ defensive options will be limited when they visit Spurs for Sunday’s London derby.

Anton Ferdinand, Armand Traore, Fabio and recent signing Stephane Mbia are all out injured.
