Rangers assess Onuoha knee problem

QPR, already without Danny Simpson, have concerns over Nedum Onuoha ahead of Tuesday’s match against Bolton.

Simpson, ever-present for Rangers this season, has been ruled out because of a back injury.

And Onuoha, boss Harry Redknapp’s first-choice replacement at right-back, has a knee problem and on Monday afternoon was looking increasingly unlikely to be fit for the game.

Onuoha’s condition is due to be assessed on Tuesday morning, when Rangers should know more about the nature of his injury.

Redknapp, who had already expressed concern at the potential lack of cover for Simpson, plans to sign a defender before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The R’s have recalled Max Ehmer from his loan spell at Carlisle and are set to add Livingston’s Coll Donaldson to their development squad after being offered the chance to sign the 18-year-old centre-back.

Donaldson can also play at right-back but is regarded as one for the future rather than a first-team option this season.

Yossi Benayoun and Jermaine Jenas are also doubts for the Bolton clash but Junior Hoilett is expected to be passed fit following his latest hamstring trouble.
