Omar plays for QPR in friendly

Stevenage’s Ali Omar featured for QPR as they won 7-0 in a pre-season friendly at non-League Staines Town on Friday evening.

Rangers are having a look at the 18-year-old defender, who has yet to make his senior debut but has been on the radars of several clubs because of his performances for Stevenage’s Under-18s.

Those clubs include Bournemouth, who also had Ali on trial earlier this year and have been considering making an offer for him.

David Wheeler, recently back from injury, scored twice for the R’s in a one-sided first half at Wheatsheaf Park, where the visitors led 5-0 at the interval.

Aramide Oteh netted a penalty and there were also goals for young defender Giles Phillips and Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Idrissa Sylla made it 6-0 with a penalty early in the second half and Osman Kakay got the seventh.

QPR’s pre-season campaign will continue with a friendly at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

  • Pleased that's we continue to build from the bottom. I hope we will see the results of our efforts under the constraints of the FFP saga
