Chelsea captain James has knee surgery

Chelsea club captain Reece James has had a knee operation.

The club say the defender’s surgery was successful, although no timeframe has been given for his return to action.




England international James, 26, has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, and management of his fitness has been ongoing.

His latest injury was suffered during training ahead of Chelsea’s 5-1 win against Bournemouth last weekend.

He is now beginning a period of rehabilitation and faces another significant spell on the sidelines.
