Another injury blow for Chelsea captain James

Chelsea captain Reece James has suffered yet another hamstring injury.

The England international, 26, has been plagued by injury woes during the past couple of seasons.

Hamstring trouble has consistently hampered him and he now faces another spell on the sidelines after being injured again in Saturday’s home defeat against Newcastle.

He will miss Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Paris St-Germain and Chelsea are unsure when he will be available again.

James recently signed a new six-year contract and has played in five of Chelsea’s past six matches.

He has been fit for most of the season and appeared to have put his injury problems behind him.

“Reece felt something in his hamstring against Newcastle,” head coach Liam Rosenior explained.

“It’s a really frustrating and disappointing one for us. We don’t know the full extent of the injury, but it rules him out of tomorrow’s game.”

Estevao, meanwhile, has returned to training following his recent injury and could be involved at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea will be looking to pull off a second-leg comeback after losing 5-2 in last week’s first leg in Paris.

“We can’t make mistakes tomorrow. We have to remember PSG are European champions for a reason, but we know we can compete,” Rosenior said.
