Christian Eriksen provided two assists and played 80 minutes for Brentford in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Scottish side Rangers ahead of a potential first Premier League appearance for the Bees on Saturday.

Brentford drew 2-2 in Glasgow, with Zanka, who played 60 minutes as he looks to regain his fitness following a knee injury, scoring the opener. Tristan Crama also netted.

It was the second friendly Eriksen has played in since joining the club, having also played 60 minutes against Southend last Monday.

The midfielder could be in line for a return to first-team action against Newcastle on Saturday.

It would be his first competitive match since suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at last year’s European Championships.

“We’re aiming for the Newcastle game. Of course we knew Crystal Palace was too close but everything from there was open,” boss Thomas Frank said before the defeat at Arsenal on Saturday.

“It’s when he feels good, but he’s in a good place so we’ll aim for Newcastle.”
