Dean Smith said he was unsure of the extent of Josh McEachran’s injury after the midfielder was stretchered off during Brentford’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City.

The former Chelsea man was impressive for the Bees prior to being taken off shortly before stoppage-time equaliser denied Smith’s side what would have been a deserved win.

“He felt something and we called for the stretcher. I don’t know (how serious it is) at the moment. I’m not sure,” said Brentford boss Smith.

“Tonight he looked a Premier League player. I thought he was outstanding.”

Brentford came back from a goal down, with Ollie Watkins’ equalising before Neal Maupay fired them into the lead.

But Bobby Reid snatched a point for the visitors right at the end.

Smith said: “It was the most one-sided Championship game I’ve been involved in and how we didn’t win I don’t know.”
