Brentford boss Dean Smith felt his side deserved at least a point after a “surreal” defeat against Nottingham Forest.

The Bees were beaten 4-3 in an extraordinary game at Griffin Park, where Andreas Bouchalakis scored with two brilliant strikes for the visitors.

It left Smith’s team with two defeats from their opening two Championship matches.

“It’s not the start to the campaign I wanted in terms of results and points,” he admitted.

“We wanted to hit the ground running results-wise and we haven’t got there, but if we play like that we’ll certainly win more games than we lose.

“They scored a wonder goal into the top corner and the last five minutes of the first half and the first few minutes of the second half changed the game.

“It’s seems a bit surreal. They scored two wonder goals and then a deflected goal.

“In the first 40 minutes I was really pleased with the players. I was really pleased with what I saw in the first half.”
