Transfer gossip: Saints and West Ham linked with Loftus-Cheek

Transfer speculation in Sunday’s newspapers involving the area’s clubs…

Chelsea are ready to continue paying most of Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s wages as part of any deal for him to move on loan, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper say Loftus-Cheek is paid £173,000 a week and that Chelsea are prepared to keep paying £100,000 of that in order to help him get regular first-team football this season.

The Sun on Sunday say Southampton “have been looking into the package” and that other clubs are considering it too.

There is also a suggestion that Chelsea could offer Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger to West Ham as part of an exchange deal involving Declan Rice, who continues to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham have also been linked with Rudiger, who has been left out of the Chelsea squad for recent matches.

There continues to be speculation too over the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Sunday Telegraph and the Mail on Sunday say Chelsea have rejected an offer from Bayern Munich to take the winger on loan with an option to buy him for £70m next summer.

Meanwhile, Said Benrahma’s wage demands could cost him a Premier League move, it’s claimed.

The Algerian winger has been widely tipped to leave Brentford during the current transfer window.

Interested clubs include West Ham and Crystal Palace, with the latter said to be favourites to sign him.

But The Sun on Sunday claim Benrahma is looking for a five-year contract worth £16m and that this is putting off potential suitors.

The newspaper also say Palace might make a move for Benrahma if West Brom come in for Andros Townsend, who has been linked with the West Midlands club.
