Round-up: Blues lose, change at QPR, exits close, Hogan latest, Bees chase signings
Chelsea’s winning run is over.
The Blues were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham in the derby at White Hart Lane, where Dele Alli’s goals denied them a record-breaking 14th consecutive Premier League victory.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte said the defeat would be a good test of his side’s mentality – and is confident they will respond.
Meanwhile, Brentford have rejected an offer of £10m from West Ham for striker Scott Hogan.
The Hammers’ bid came after Premier League rivals Watford also made an enquiry about the 24-year-old’s availability.
The Bees are also busy trying to strengthen their squad. Having cut Jota’s loan short, they are keen to bring Sergi Canos back to Griffin Park and are in negotiations with his current club Norwich.
They also remain confident of signing 19-year-old Ben Stevenson, despite having a bid turned down by Coventry, who are holding out for more than £2m.
Fulham want to sign experienced striker David Nugent, who is surplus to requirements at Middlesbrough.
At QPR, it’s shaping up into another busy January – with changes on and off the pitch.
Playmaker Tjaronn Chery is set to complete a move to Chinese Super League side Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng, with Rangers fans seemingly broadly in support.
Karl Henry has been told he can leave following a fall-out with Holloway, fellow midfielder Sandro is in talks with Turkish club Osmanlispor, while QPR will also listen to offers Sebastian Polter – though that has drawn a mixed reaction from supporters.
It’s not only outgoings though – Holloway is keen to sign Kazenga LuaLua on loan from Brighton.
Off the field, Rangers chief executive Lee Hoos has been handed overall responsibility for the running of the entire club.
With the January transfer window open, there are a number of rumours flying around – Ross McCormack has been linked with a return to Fulham, while Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been tipped to complete a loan move to Championship leaders Brighton.
In cricket, James Franklin has signed a new two-year deal with Middlesex.
