Havertz joins Arsenal and Mendy also leaves

Kai Havertz has completed a £65m move to Arsenal.

The German forward, 24, has left Chelsea after a three-year spell at Stamford Bridge, during which he scored the winning goal in the Blues’ 2021 Champions League triumph against Manchester City.

His departure came on the same day goalkeeper Edouard Mendy left Chelsea to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli and 24 hours after Mateo Kovacic signed for City,

It continues a summer of change at the Bridge, with N’Golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly having also left for Saudi Arabia, while Mason Mount is wanted by Manchester United and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to join AC Milan.

Havertz scored 19 goals in 91 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and netted nine times last season.

Mendy, who also spent three years at Chelsea and was part of their 2021 Champions League-winning side, kept 49 clean sheets in 105 appearances for the club.
