Evans proud after Leeds’ draw at Fulham

New Leeds United boss Steve Evans said he was proud of his team’s display and the reception he received from the travelling fans at Fulham.

Chris Wood’s second-half penalty earned a deserved point for the visitors in their first match since Evans replaced Uwe Rosler.

“I’m very humbled and I felt choked when going across the pitch at the start of the game and seeing those 5,000 Leeds fans,” Evans said after the 1-1 draw.

“After the game I felt proud too because those fans knew that their team had been dogged and that Fulham were fortunate to get a point.

“It’s fantastic to be the manager of this club and feels very humbling. And we’re now off and running.”
