Willock could be recalled to QPR squad

Chris Willock could be recalled for Saturday’s game against Blackburn after being left out of the QPR squad for the trip to Leeds.

Willock was omitted after a poor performance in Rangers’ recent home defeat against Coventry.

It is not the first time boss Gareth Ainsworth has wielded the axe – Ethan Laird was similarly dropped following a home loss against Preston last season.

Laird responded positively and produced improved performances in the final matches of his spell on loan from Manchester United, impressing in vital wins at Burnley and Stoke towards the end of the campaign.

Ainsworth will hope for a similar reaction from Willock if he is brought back into the fold this weekend.

Changes will be made after five matches without a win – and because Sam Field is suspended and experienced duo Steve Cook and Jack Colback are major doubts.

Both Colback and Cook went off injured in the 1-0 defeat at Leeds, where keeper Asmir Begovic was sent off in stoppage time.

Rangers have appealed against Begovic’s red card.

With Morgan Fox out with a knee injury, Cook’s absence would potentially see Ainsworth revert to a back four, pairing Jake Clarke-Salter with the fit-again Jimmy Dunne at centre-back.
