Several clubs keen on DJ Campbell

Several Championship clubs have enquired about DJ Campbell’s availability ahead of his return from a loan spell at Ipswich Town.

Campbell has scored 10 goals for the Suffolk side, whose manager Mick McCarthy is keen to sign him on a permanent deal later this month.

The striker will first hold talks with QPR boss Harry Redknapp, who plans to assess Campbell before deciding whether to keep him at Loftus Road.

And Redknapp has received approaches from a number of other second-tier clubs.

He explained: “I haven’t seen anything of DJ Campbell recently.

“He did well when he was at [his previous club] Blackpool and I’ve had lots of phone calls from different managers in the Championship who’d like to have him in their team.

“They tell me he’s a great lad as well, so I’m pleased to have him back.”

Meanwhile, Redknapp has confirmed his interest in Joe Cole and is also trying to sign France striker Loic Remy from Marseille.
