Ian Holloway spoke of his desire to stay on as QPR manager for as long as possible after his side finally won away.
Rangers’ 2-1 triumph at Birmingham was their first victory on the road since winning at the same ground in February.
It also came after five defeats in six matches – a run which led to speculation that there could be yet another change of manager at Loftus Road.
Holloway appeared to admit after the game at St Andrews that he could still be on borrowed time.
“I want to get us to January and get us in a better position so we can feel a bit of optimism around us,” he said.
“I’m delighted with some of the young ones we’ve got coming through. They’ve got to get character and that’s what we showed today.
“I know we’ve got it, but sometimes it can desert you a little bit – particularly with the run we’ve had over the last few years, where people get changed.
“You could say that I’m still here for another couple of weeks. I’d like to be here a long, long time. But I know I have to earn that right.
“I’m just very pleased for my team today. We’ve had some things go against us and in life you have to overcome.”
Jack Robinson scored twice for Rangers – the first goals of his senior career.
Holloway paid tribute to the rejuvenated defender, who has bounced back from injury to become a vital player this season.
Holloway joked: “I’ve just said to the doping officer: ‘Surely you’ve got to take him!’”
He added: “I’m delighted for him. He’s been sensational this season. He’s come from not being able to train two or three days in a row and has been absolutely outstanding.
“He’s got a brilliant left foot and I think he’s got a bright future, because he’s still only young.”

Put Robinson in the number 9 shirt & I think our climb up the table begins.
We've had a tough season upto date but with players coming back to fitness we can push on. Looking at our youngsters the future could be a lot brighter as well. Loosing Holloway at this stage would not be a positive move the players respect him & give their all we just need one of our striker's to find form & we're away.
I hope we can get a run in the cup this year we deserve something to be happy about
