Robinson the hero as QPR win away at last

QPR

Birmingham 1 QPR 2

Jack Robinson’s late goal ended QPR’s long wait for an away victory.

Defender Robinson netted twice – the first goals of his senior career – as Rangers won away from home for the first time since victory on the same ground in February.

Robinson put them ahead with a header from Luke Freeman’s 18th-minute free-kick.

Struggling Birmingham equalised 12 minutes into the second half, when Sam Gallagher pounced on a loose ball to score after keeper Alex Smithies failed to hold Maikel Kieftenbeld’s 25-yard shot.

But Rangers hit back and substitute Idrissa Sylla went close with a header before Robinson struck again with seven minutes remaining.

The home side were unable to fully clear another ball into the box from Freeman – and Robinson took advantage by thumping home from near the edge of the penalty area.
