Diakite ‘back in the picture’ at Rangers

Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports linking Samba Diakite with a move to Watford.

It was claimed the QPR midfielder was discussing an initial loan move to Vicarage Road with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season.

But Diakite, who has been consistently overlooked by Redknapp, is back in his plans after impressing in training and could feature against Huddersfield this weekend because Joey Barton is out with a thigh injury.

And Rangers boss Redknapp insisted the Mali international would not be leaving.

“No, he’s not. He’s in the squad for tomorrow,” said Redknapp.

“He played for the reserves in midweek and played very well. He’s a player that might be very much back in the picture again now.

“Hopefully we can get him going and get the best out of him, and if we can he’s a very good player.”

Yossi Benayoun is struggling with a groin problem and looks likely to miss the Huddersfield game, while Jermaine Jenas is still unavailable.

  • I do agree he does make some harsh tackles sometimes and hopefully he has learn from his mistakes if he wants a regular starting line up place within the squad.
Saying that he can't be any worse than the ineffective Zamora who becomes a liability
    Once on the pitch.

  • Red card waiting to happen. Turn up early if you want to see him play in the hoops-he may not be on the pitch too long.

  • Finally samba diakite is being given a break. With Zamora unable to deliver every single game that he has played so far,I do not understand why Harry still have faith in him
Samba diakite has got pace and is very strong as well , plus he is not shy to go forward .
We cannot rely on just Austin to score, all our midfielders should also start aiming to score goals and make it difficult for opponents to pinpoint a specific player to mark.
It's about time that we start getting under the throat of our opponents from the first whistle and make the difference in the first half itself.
    Come on you super hoops
