Idrissa Sylla’s early goal gave QPR their second home triumph in three days. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 1-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Alex Smithies: 7

The Rangers goalkeeper produced low stops to deny Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp either side of the interval.

Alex Baptiste: 8

His leadership qualities in a depleted defence were evident again as he put in some vital challenges and won more than his fair share of headers.

Jack Robinson: 7

Looks the part in the central defensive role and showed composure and awareness to help Rangers secure their first clean sheet in six games.

Jake Bidwell: 6

Made a crucial sliding challenge to halt the run of Enda Stevens early. But the flip side was his dubious positioning to let Clarke in for a clear shot later in the game.

Jordan Cousins: 6

Still finding his feet after a lengthy injury absence, Cousins looked uncomfortable at times – particularly on the defensive side – but his booking for a challenge on David Brooks seemed harsh.

Massimo Luongo: 7

A commanding figure in the initial stages and, although his performance dipped as the game wore on, he was unlucky not to score with a deft turn and shot in the second half.

Josh Scowen: 8

Scowen’s work-rate could not be faulted as he consistently won tackles, linked play and never allowed the Blades to dominate in the centre of the park.

Luke Freeman: 6

As always, Freeman was fizzing with enthusiasm and energy. But his tendency to lose his footing after manoeuvring himself into shooting positions can be frustrating.

David Wheeler: 7

Started on the right-hand side but was soon switched to the left flank, where he tracked back efficiently and got stuck in as and when required.

Conor Washington: 6

Worked hard, held the ball up to good effect and delivered a great cross to Sylla in the first half. But he also squandered a trio of scoring chances.

The striker could hardly believe his good fortune when Jamal Blackman’s error gifted him a goal in the fourth minute. He almost added another with an audacious 30-yard effort to test Blackman’s replacement Simon Moore.

Darnell Furlong: 7

The young right-back replaced Cousins after an hour and added some solidity to the back line, as well as slinging a couple of decent crosses into the Blades’ penalty area.

Jamie Mackie: 6

Brought on to replace Sylla for the final quarter of the game. Missed a good chance when he rifled a shot over the bar.
