Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is unsure of the extent of the injury Jamal Blackman suffered during the Blades’ defeat at QPR.

The on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper landed awkwardly after dropping the ball – a mistake which led to Idrissa Sylla scoring the game’s only goal.

Blackman then stayed down for several minutes before being carried off on a stretcher, but it was unclear how serious the injury was.

“We’ll have to wait and see. Obviously it wasn’t good,” Wilder said.

“It looked a really awkward fall and we’ll have to wait for the diagnosis.”

It was a disappointing night at Loftus Road for United, who are also assessing George Baldock after he picked up a hamstring injury.

“We’ve not had the best of nights in terms of injuries,” Wilder added.

“Hopefully the news will be OK once we get back to Sheffield and do the necessary scans on both players.”

Wilder made no excuses for his team after the loss which saw them replaced by Wolves at the top of the Championship.

“Our start wasn’t the greatest, with the injury to Jamal and the goal, but I just didn’t think we deserved anything,” he admitted.

“I’m disappointed with my team. We’ve been outfought and out-battled and didn’t show enough quality.

“We knew that they were going to press and get at us and we needed to show composure, but we didn’t.

“We were also sloppy in the second half of the game. It’s not been a good night and ended in a deserved defeat.

“It’s maybe a little reality check. Everybody’s received an enormous amount of praise. I thought we took a backward step.”
