QPR trio expected to be fit for Forest game

QPR defender Yoann Barbet

QPR expect Yoann Barbet, Geoff Cameron and George Thomas to be available for the Championship opener against Nottingham Forest.

Summer signing Thomas has not featured in recent games because of a thigh strain he picked up during a friendly against AFC Wimbledon.

He missed Saturday’s Carabao Cup defeat at Plymouth along with Barbet (pictured) and Cameron, who have been carrying minor injuries.

Speaking after the game, manager Mark Warburton said he expected all three players to be available on Saturday.

Thomas, brought in on a free transfer after being released by Leicester, is expected to return to training on Tuesday.

The 3-2 loss at Home Park came after Ryan Manning had given QPR the perfect start by scoring after little more than a minute.

Warburton felt his side should then have killed their opponents off.

“You’ve got to put the ball in the back of the net,” he said.

“When you start the second half like that – we were quick and sharp – you have to put the ball in the back of the net. We didn’t do that.

“Goals change games. That ruthless streak is so important. We created a lot of chances and didn’t maximise it.”
