QPR striker Burrell’s new injury ‘not long-term at all’
An injury Rumarn Burrell picked up during QPR’s defeat against Derby is not a cause for alarm, Julien Stephan has insisted.
The striker, recently back after three months out with a hamstring injury, limped off 17 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Burrell will not be available for the final match of the season, against Ipswich on Saturday, but head coach Stephan expects him to be ready for the start of pre-season training.
Stephan said on Tuesday: “It’s not the same injury as the previous one. It’s not a bad injury. No problem. He just needs two or three weeks to recover. It’s not long-term at all.
“He will not be available on Saturday and now the focus is on pre-season – have a good rest and a good off-season for him. Be ready and fit for the pre-season.
“Now we have a clear view on what we have to do with him during the next 10 weeks in order for him to be ready for the first day of pre-season.”
Meanwhile, Stephan has played down reports linking him with a potential return to his native France.
