QPR star Willock looks likely to miss start of season

QPR: Chris Willock

QPR attacker Chris Willock is still three weeks away from making a full return to training, according to head coach Michael Beale.

The 24-year-old underwent surgery after suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in the 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest in March.

And he is unlikely to rejoin the squad until nearer the end of pre-season as he continues his recovery, Beale told the club website.

It means he is likely a doubt for the start of QPR’s Championship campaign, which begins at Blackburn Rovers on July 30.

Lyndon Dykes, Seny Dieng and Osman Kakay, meanwhile, will link up with the squad on Monday having been involved in international fixtures last month.

“Lyndon is in a great place and actually came back a day early today to do some running which is a fantastic attitude, and we are really pleased with that,” Beale also said.

QPR beat Uxbridge 2-0 in behind closed doors friendly on Saturday, thanks to a Charlie Kelman strike and an own goal.

New signings Kenneth Paal and Jake Clarke-Salter both played 45 minutes ,while youngsters including Stephen Duke-McKenna, Joe Gubbins and Arkell Jude-Boyd also featured.

Both Luke Amos and Sam Field missed out with knocks but are expected to return to training next week.
