QPR boss hails ‘focused’ Kakay

QPR boss Mark Warburton has admitted he has been pleasantly surprised by the emergence of Osman Kakay.

The 23-year-old defender was not in Warburton’s plans prior to a run in the side towards the end of last season.

He is now set to sign an improved contract and has started the new campaign as Rangers’ first-choice right-back.

Warburton said: “I’ve been very honest and said that his commitment and his desire – I didn’t quite realise how focused he was.

“He’s done a magnificent job and kept his shirt. And he’s done very well in the first couple of games.”

Keeper Seny Dieng is also set to sign a new contract.

West London Sport previously revealed that Dieng, Kakay, Conor Masterson and Dom Ball were in line for new deals.

Masterson and Ball have since put pen to paper.
