QPR confirm keeper’s new contract

Loftus Road

QPR have confirmed that Joe Lumley has signed a new three-year contract.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers were keen to extend the goalkeeper’s contract and then send him out on loan, and later revealed that he had agreed terms with the club.

Lumley, 21, had been lined up for a loan move to Gillingham but that deal now appears unlikely to go through.

Rangers are looking at other options as they are keen for Lumley to pick up more first-team experience.

He made six appearances during a loan spell at Accrington in 2014, but only one during a stint at Morecambe and none at all while on loan at Stevenage last season.

Lumley has since made his senior debut for QPR, at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, and played in the Championship game against Blackburn in January.

With keeper Conor Hudnott having been ruled out for around six months with a shoulder injury, Rangers’ signing of Seny Dieng for the development squad means they are now willing to let Lumley go elsewhere.

Meanwhile, QPR have agreed a fee with Anderlecht for striker Idriss Sylla and the sale of Cole Kpekawa to Barnsley.
