QPR v Burnley player ratings
Ilias Chair helped QPR rescue a point against Burnley by setting up Jonathan Varane’s second-half equaliser at Loftus Road. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 1-1 draw.
Pierce Charles: 6
Showed off his fantastic distribution again, with a couple of brilliant 70-yard pings. But he was at fault for Burnley’s goal, with Largie Ramazani’s right-footed strike catching him out.
Kealey Adamson: 6
A decent showing after a dip in form against Southampton on Saturday. Solid and determined.
Jimmy Dunne: 6
Not at his best, as shown by the odd failure to clear his lines. A threat at the other end, though, and fired a shot over.
Ronnie Edwards: 7
Produced moments of real quality, being involved in some nice link-up play and seeing a deflected shot superbly saved.
Dennis Cirkin: 7
Lacked sharpness in the first half and Rangers seemed to miss Boy Kemper on the left. But Cirkin improved, particularly after the second-half introduction of Chair, who he set up a chance for and, shortly afterwards, found in the build-up to the equaliser.
Glen Kamara: 7
Involved in some neat build-up play but seems to have an aversion to shooting – although he did, eventually, have one effort blocked.
Jonathan Varane: 7
Scored the all-important equaliser, although it was with a tame side-footed shot that should have been saved. Varane was sloppy at times – and he picked up a needless second-half yellow card for a silly foul. However, his energy in midfield was a major factor in Rangers digging out a point, and his overall contribution was very good, including in attacking areas as they pushed for a second goal.
Harvey Vale: 5
Went close to scoring with a first-half free-kick that whizzed just wide, and a skilful run led to a shooting chance for Kamara, but Vale drifted in and out of the game before being taken off in the second half.
Koki Saito: 5
Saito drifting into the middle caused early problems for Burnley, with even the vastly seasoned Kyle Walker seemingly unsure how to respond. But after that spell, he faded from the game and made very little impact before being substituted on the hour mark.
Paul Smyth: 6
Gave his all in attack, and sent a shot wide after a strong run, but it was a frustrating night for Smyth, who made way for Justin Obikwu late on.
Richard Kone: 5
Having scored four goals in the two previous games, there was no joy this time for Kone, who failed to trouble the visiting defence before making way for Rayan Kolli after an hour.
Rayan Kolli: 7
Involved straightaway, setting up fellow substitute Chair, who blazed over. Did well.
Ilias Chair: 7
Missed a great chance when teed up by Kolli straight after coming on, but his trademark composure and slickness in the final third was immediately back on display. Caused problems for Burnley coming in from the left and set up Varane’s goal. Chair’s introduction ultimately turned the game back towards the R’s.
Karamoko Dembele: 6
Also lively after coming on later as well. Kemper and Obikwu had less time to make an impact – although the latter missed a late chance when he shot wide.
