QPR defender Smith set for MLS move

Defender Tylon Smith is set to join New England Revolution on loan from QPR with a view to a permanent move.

The South African centre-back, 21, moved to west London last summer and more recently was part of his country’s squad at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Smith made his senior debut in last season’s Carabao Cup tie at Plymouth and went on to make three appearances in the Championship, all as a substitute.

He is now heading to the United States to play for a New England side that are currently third in the Major League Soccer table.
