Warburton welcomes speculation over QPR duo

Mark Warburton says he welcomes speculation linking QPR stars Ebere Eze and Ryan Manning with Premier League clubs.

Tottenham have been linked with Eze, while Wolves are the latest top-flight side to be linked with Manning.

Warburton told West London Sport last month he wanted his players to attract interest as it would show they were performing well.

And that was a message the manager repeated when asked about the Rangers duo following the 2-2 draw at home to Charlton.

Warburton insisted he had no knowledge of supposed interest in Eze from Spurs or a reported approach from Wolves for Manning.

But he said: “I want every one of my players to be linked with every Premier League club – because that means they’re doing outstandingly well. I’m not being sarcastic in any way.

“When a Premier League club comes in for one of your players, whoever it may be – I’m not justifying any of those stories because I’ve got no idea about them – it means they’re doing well for your club.

“The only thing guaranteed is that any player who leaves QPR will do so on QPR’s terms. If you get value for your player then everyone should win.

“But in terms of those particular players, no I’ve got no idea. I read papers but it’s speculation.

“But right now you want every player to be linked because the more they’re linked the better they’re doing.”

Rangers are negotiating a new contract for Manning. His current deal is due to expire in the summer but the club hold an option to extend it by a year, meaning he is effectively under contract until 2021. The same applies to Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Eze signed a three-year deal in 2018 but that also includes the option of a further 12 months, meaning he is effectively under contract until 2022.
