Gareth Ainsworth says Jimmy Dunne is on course to return to action for QPR soon after the international break.

The defender has been out since suffering a dislocated shoulder during a pre-season friendly against Oxford United.

He could be back in the squad when Rangers resume their Championship campaign against Sunderland on 16 September.

“Jimmy’s going to be back very shortly after the international break, if not directly after it,” said R’s boss Ainsworth.

“Jimmy’s a great lad, has great enthusiasm and is a character in the dressing room and on the pitch.

“He’s been huge for us and he’s champing at the bit to get back involved. Jimmy’s definitely a big part of my plans.”

Rangers have been hoping that Lyndon Dykes will be able rejoin to the squad for this weekend’s trip to Middlesbrough.

Dykes has been unavailable since picking up a knee injury during the recent Carabao Cup tie against Norwich.

The striker was this week included in the Scotland squad for matches against England and Cyprus.
