Dunne ‘very important’ to QPR – as defender is linked with Blades

Marti Cifuentes says he is unaware of any interest from Sheffield United in signing QPR defender Jimmy Dunne.

The Blades are reportedly interested in buying Dunne before the transfer window closes.

“I didn’t hear anything from the club’s perspective about it,” R’s head coach Cifuentes said when asked after his team’s 2-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

Dunne’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he has no far not agreed a new deal.

He was retained last summer because Rangers took up an option in his contract to extend it by a year.

Cifuentes added: “Jimmy for me is a very important player. I know that he loves to be at QPR and loves the club – and we love him.

“So we’ll see what happens. But he’s a very important player for us.”

Meanwhile, Cifuentes refused to blame his team’s below-par performance against Wednesday on fatigue.
