Birmingham v QPR player ratings

QPR’s mistakes were punished at St Andrews as Birmingham inflicted their first away defeat of the season. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 3-0 loss.

Pierce Charles: 6

Left exposed for all three goals. Kicking not as flawless as usual, but can’t be blamed for this defeat.

Kealey Adamson: 6

Got caught in a mix-up with Rayan Kolli on the edge of the Birmingham box that led to the home side’s opener. But otherwise did well at right-back.

Jake Clarke-Salter: 6

Solid enough performance before being withdrawn 15 minutes from time.

Jimmy Dunne: 5

Caught with a really bad tackle by Christoph Klarer that should have merited more than a booking. Not at his best on a tough day for the defence.

Boy Kemper: 6

Should have scored early in the second half when a Dunne flick-on from a throw-in found the full-back unmarked at the back post, but he was unable to turn the ball in. Solid otherwise.

Glen Kamara: 5

Showed some decent touches but not at his fluent best against an aggressive Birmingham midfield. Lost the ball in the build-up to the second goal.

Ronnie Edwards: 6

Started in midfield but dropped into centre-back whenever Rangers were defending. Unlucky not to score when James Beadle pulled off a fine save. Tried hard to drive the team forward but his poor pass to Jonathan Varane allowed Demari Gray to add a late third.

Harvey Vale: 5

Aside from the odd darting run forward, didn’t offer enough attacking spark in the final third.

Paul Smyth: 6

A lively presence and had a real battle with former Rangers team-mate Bright Osayi-Samuel – and had claims for an early penalty waved away when he went tumbling in the box.

Kwame Poku: 6

Had some really positive moments and looked Rangers best attacking option. Produced a magnificent turn and pass in the first half to tee up a Kolli shot that was pushed away by Beadle.

Rayan Kolli: 5

Got little change out of Birmingham’s giant centre-backs, but had two decent chances pushed away by Beadle. Lost the ball in the lead-up to Birmingham’s opener.

Richard Kone: 5

Had a shot that went over the bar after coming on for Kolli but still looks short of fitness. Went down with a knee injury right at the end of the game.
