QPR beat Union Berlin in friendly

QPR rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 win over FC Union Berlin.

German defender Toni Leistner, playing against the club he recently left to join the R’s, made his first appearance at Loftus Road, where Bright Osayi-Samuel and Matt Smith scored first-half goals and Ebere Eze added a second-half penalty.

Eze set up the opener, pulling the ball back from the left for Osayi-Samuel to slot home.

Soon after going close with a header from Osayi-Samuel’s cross, Smith headed in Luke Freeman’s right-wing corner.

The lively Osayi-Samuel almost scored again before the interval, sweeping past a defender and firing wide of the far post from a tricky angle.

Eze, Rangers’ new number 10, also caught the eye – and made it 3-0 from the spot after tumbling in the penalty area.

Rangers begin their Championship season with an away match against Preston next Saturday.
