QPR are assessing a knee injury suffered by Richard Kone and expect to learn more about the extent of the problem on Monday.

Kone, who picked up an injury during pre-season and has since struggled for fitness and form, was selected to play for Rangers’ development side in a match against Bolton on Monday.

He had to be taken off after being hurt by a crunching challenge during the first half.

Initial tests have indicated that the striker has not suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage, but the injury nevertheless appears to be a significant one, and it is not yet clear how long he is likely to be sidelined for.

Meanwhile, an injury Jimmy Dunne sustained during QPR’s recent draw against Charlton resulted in him being left out of the Republic of Ireland’s matchday squad for the Nations League game against Kosovo.

Dunne wanted to play for Rangers against Preston and completed the full 90 minutes, but is not fully fit.

Harvey Vale suffered a thigh injury during the warm-up, so missed the Preston match and was unable to join the Irish squad.

Rangers hope Dunne, Vale and Tariq Lamptey will be available to play against West Ham after the international break.

Dennis Cirkin will be suspended for the London derby after an appeal against his red card against Preston was rejected.
