New signing determined to prove himself at QPR

Paul Smyth has told QPR’s website he is determined to prove himself following his move from Linfield.

Rangers confirmed the arrival of striker Smyth, 19, on Tuesday. He has signed a two-year contract at Loftus Road.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers had made an offer for the Northern Ireland Under-21 international and subsequently revealed that a deal had been agreed.

“I know this is a massive step up for me, but it’s one I’m relishing. I’m hungry to do well here,” he said. 

“I’ll get my head down, work hard and hopefully do enough to impress the manager.

“I’ve always set myself high expectations and that won’t ever change.”

Also speaking to told the club website,  director of football Les Ferdinand said: “He’s a young, talented kid who we really feel can develop at QPR.

“We feel that he’s capable of pushing for a place in and around the first team.”
