QPR midfielder Varane signs new contract
QPR midfielder Jonathan Varane has signed a new contract.
The Frenchman, 23, arrived from Spanish side Sporting Gijon last summer and has since made 43 appearances.
Meanwhile, Paul Smyth has been offered a new deal by Rangers.
And the club are looking to keep Michael Frey.
Striker Frey’s contract expires this summer but includes an option to extend it by a year.
Frey, 30, could end up signing a longer-term deal, but Rangers will at the very least trigger the option to extend his current one, meaning he will be at Loftus Road next season.
Smyth, who is in his second spell at QPR, has another year left on his contract.
The Northern Ireland international, 27, has been offered new terms, having made 87 Championship appearances since returning to west London from Leyton Orient in 2023.

I suspect any definition of “failed miserably” is destined to be heavily subjective from a perspective utterly at variance with the realities of how financially crippled QPR are. In between fantasies about all the great players we might sign when our boat comes in, I feel we all, as QPR fans, need to face some truth and appreciate what was done – whether by Marti, who has gone – or by these players, each of whom made a valued contribution to our survival. “Glass half full”…yeah , I suppose so but I can concentrate on cricket and Lions rugby for a few months without getting too paranoid about the collapse of Loftus Road or our imminent merger with Neasden Athletic.
