Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised his players after QPR’s win at Wigan and reiterated that he is hopeful the club will make signings ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Rangers are looking to add a winger and at least one striker to their squad and manager Hasselbaink is optimistic they will get deals done.

“I would hope so. We are looking at a few. Hopefully the phone will be ringing a lot,” he said.

“Hopefully we’ll see a few new faces and integrate them straightaway.”

Nedum Onuoha’s second-half goal gave Rangers a 1-0 victory at the DW Stadium – their second away win of the season.

It was a convincing defensive performance following back-to-back defeats.

“It was important we came here and made sure our platform and our organisation was right,” Hasselbaink explained.

“We made sure we didn’t give a lot away. We made it difficult for them. We pressured them all over the pitch.

“At times we could have been better on the ball, but it was a very solid performance. It was a grinder.

“At times it was a little bit nervous, but that is normal when you are away from home.

“We stayed together as a team and we were able to grind a win out.”
