Harry rapped over handling of Taarabt row

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes says he has made his disappointment clear to Harry Redknapp as well as Adel Taarabt following their extraordinary public fall-out.

Redknapp launched an attack on Taarabt after leaving him out of the matchday squad for Sunday’s defeat against Liverpool.

The Rangers manager again accused him of being unfit and this time claimed he was “three stone overweight”.

“I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused.”

The player hit back, criticising him and posing for pictures which appeared to show Taarabt, 25, in decent condition.

And Redknapp today continued their public row, describing the Moroccan as “the worst professional I have ever come across” and suggesting Taarabt had lost weight simply because he had had tonsillitis.

That outburst did not go down well with the club’s hierarchy, who on Tuesday afternoon issued a statement in an attempt to draw a line under the matter.

In the statement, Fernandes said: “We regret these issues being played out in public.

“Both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.

“On behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been dealt with internally.”
