Taarabt features in QPR Under-21 game

Adel Taarabt returned to action on Monday afternoon when he featured for QPR’s development side in a match against Ipswich Town.

Taarabt, recently involved in an extraordinary public fall-out with Rangers manager Harry Redknapp, played the whole 90 minutes of the game at Ipswich’s training centre, where the visitors won 3-0.

He went close to scoring in the first half when he created space for himself before firing just wide of the target.

And after the break the Moroccan created chances for Max Ehmer, Olamide Shodipo and Josh Laurent.

Rangers were two up at half-time after goals from Darnell Furlong – son of former R’s striker Paul Furlong – and Jordan Gibbons. Shodipo added a late third.

Taarabt, accused by Redknapp of refusing to train properly and being unfit to play, has made only three first-team appearances this season, the last of which came as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat at West Ham on 5 October.

He recently had a slight ankle problem and missed training the week before last because of illness.
