QPR want Motta on short-term deal

QPR plan to offer Italian defender Marco Motta a contract until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old right-back was recently granted trial by Rangers, who have been keen to assess his fitness – Motta has been without a club since leaving Watford at the end of last season.

Prior to his three-month spell at Vicarage Road, during which time he made seven league starts for the Hornets, Motta was at Juventus.

Motta, who began his career at Roma and also spent a year at Udinese, was sent out on loan to Genoa, Bologna and Catania by Juve before eventually securing a move to England.

Rangers believe he can provide them with short-term cover at right-back before longer-term options are assessed in the summer.

Meanwhile, QPR have enquired about Patrick Bamford but have been told the Chelsea forward wants to join Premier League club.
