QPR v Hull player ratings

QPR came from behind to win in dramatic fashion against Hull City at Loftus Road. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-1 victory.

Alex Smithies: 8

Always assured and yet again produced a vital stop when called upon, saving with his legs to deny Sebastian Larsson moments before the winning goal.

James Perch: 7

Has had a decent start to the season and this was another credible display. Defended well, produced some good stuff when attacking down the right and showed great determination to stay on the pitch when injured late on despite being urged to come off.

Nedum Onuoha: 7

Sloppy at times in Rangers’ previous games this season but was solid and consistent this time at the heart of the defence.

Alex Baptiste: 6

Not the most elegant on the ball but knows his job and did what was needed. A solid league debut for the R’s.

Kazenga LuaLua: 5

Rightly praised for playing despite the death of his father on the eve of the match, LuaLua had a tough time. He was beaten at the far post in the build up to Hull’s goal and gave the ball away numerous times before being withdrawn early in the second half.

Josh Scowen: 8

Another very impressive performance from the summer signing. Relentless in midfield and has quality too, which he showed when skilfully riding two challenges before being chopped down near the edge of the penalty area in the first half.

Massimo Luongo: 7

Worked hard and got into some useful attacking positions as well. Combined well with Scowen.

Luke Freeman: 8

Missed an early chance but his overall performance was excellent. He created openings with his clever movement and passing, his set-pieces were a threat and he set up the all-important equaliser, deftly beating his man and delivering a perfect cross for Matt Smith to score.

Jake Bidwell: 6

Steady as usual on the left. Solid, consistent and reliable.

Jamie Mackie: 7

Did his job, chasing and pestering Hull’s defenders and never allowing them to settle.

Conor Washington: 8

Busy throughout, creating a great chance for Freeman early on with some great work on the right. Eventually his persistence paid off when he chased a long ball and teed up Idrissa Sylla for the winner.

Matt Smith: 8

Immediately changed the course of the game after being brought on as Rangers were running out of ideas in the second half. Threatened with two headers before eventually finding the target. He also made himself a hero at the other end with an injury-time goal-line clearance.

Idrissa Sylla: 7

Given his lack of game time, Sylla’s scoring record is commendable and his late winner was his 11th goal for the R’s. He went close before that, turning in the box and shooting against the post.

Pawel Wszolek: 6

Worked hard as always, having been brought on after insisting he was fit enough to join the squad despite picking up an injury in midweek.
