QPR youngster Oteh joins Walsall on loan

QPR youngster Aramide Oteh has joined Walsall on loan.

Oteh, 20, has moved for the rest of the season after Rangers decided they would loan him out.

He was recommended to the League One club by QPR Under-23s boss Paul Hall, who played for the Saddlers and was a team-mate of Walsall manager Dean Keates.

Rangers have long intended to loan out Paul Smyth and Sean Goss during this month’s transfer window along with youngsters Osman Kakay, Ilias Chair, Niko Hamalainen and Giles Phillips, but have waited to make a decision on Oteh.

With Tomer Hemed on the way back to fitness and Matt Smith looking likely to stay, Oteh was made available.

On-loan Brighton striker Hemed is closing in on a return following a recent hernia operation, while Millwall have made an approach to take Smith on loan but the target man’s wages mean a deal looks unlikely at this stage.

Oteh was signed by Rangers in December 2017 after being released by Tottenham.

He has made 11 first-team appearances since then, scoring at Burton last season and from the penalty spot in QPR’s recent FA Cup win against Leeds.

In September his contract at Loftus Road was extended until 2021.
