‘No problem’ with Bonne, says QPR boss

QPR boss Mick Beale has urged Macauley Bonne to fight his way back into his plans after a pre-deadline move to Charlton was scrapped.

Bonne, signed from the Addicks in 2020, looked set for a return to The Valley on a season-long loan.

However, after Rangers’ late efforts to bring in a striker failed, the plug was pulled on the move, forcing Bonne to return to the club.

The 26-year-old was not in the squad that travelled to Swansea on Saturday and has not started a league game this season.

He is currently behind Lyndon Dykes, Tyler Roberts and youngster Sinclair Armstrong in the pecking order.

Bonne has made no secret of his desire to quit Rangers, having enjoyed a spell at Ipswich last year and claiming in an interview with the East Anglian Times he desperately wanted his boyhood club to sign him permanently.

“We’ve always been honest from the start of pre-season and I have got no problem with Macauley,” Beale said.

“We have four centre-forwards with him, Tyler, Lyndon and young Sinclair – who has come out of nowhere really and had a fantastic pre-season.

“I am not always going to go with two number nines, or three on the bench, so he is going to have to fight it out in training.

“Macca did have some options to go out late in the window but it didn’t work out.

“We were very close to bringing in a striker as well but we just run out of time on the last day.

“But there are no issues with me and Macca. We have a fantastic relationship and we go back to work on Monday.”
