Clarke-Salter on course to return to QPR squad

Jake Clarke-Salter is set to be available for QPR’s trip to Stoke.

The defender returned in the recent draw with Norwich after more than two months out, but went off after an hour and then missed Saturday’s win at Burnley.

But boss Gareth Ainsworth says a decision not to include Clarke-Salter in the squad for the Burnley game was a precaution and that he is on course to return.

Ainsworth explained: “Jake Clarke-Salter was just a not-risk. Jake wanted to play against Burnley.

“I made the decision as a manager – and these are tough decisions, because if you play him against Burnley and he got injured in his second game in three days after injury, we lose him for the last two games.

“So that was a big decision for me to pull him from the squad and say ‘Jake, just get yourself right’. That was big.”

A win at Stoke would guarantee Rangers’ Championship survival for next season.

Tyler Roberts, who has not featured for three months, might also be in the squad.

Meanwhile, Mick Beale is expected to make a move for QPR’s Chris Willock when the season ends.
