Gareth Ainsworth is confident he can help QPR defenders Rob Dickie and Jimmy Dunne return to form.

Dickie, previously so impressive for the R’s, has had a poor season and fellow centre-back Dunne has also struggled during an appalling run of results.

Both players were found wanting in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at home to Blackburn.

It was not the start to his tenure as head coach that Ainsworth wanted, but the new boss believes Dickie and Dunne will quickly shown an improvement.

“It’s going to happen with young boys in such a bad run,” said Ainsworth.

“It’s about how we can react to that and how we can work on things that give them confidence.

“They’re both great football players and under me there’s no way they’ll stay down for long.”

Meanwhile, Rangers are assessing a hamstring injury Ilias Chair suffered against Rovers.
