Wealdstone sign defender Conroy and striker Muskwe

Wealdstone have signed defender Dion Conroy and Zimbabwe international striker Admiral Muskwe.

Centre-back Conroy, 30 (pictured on the left above), arrives after a four-year spell at Crawley and is reunited with Stones boss Gary Waddock, having previously played under him during a loan spell at Aldershot Town.

His career began at Chelsea and has also included a five-year spell at Swindon.

Wealdstone chairman Rory Fitzgerald said: “We are delighted to welcome Dion to Wealdstone – a player that we have been tracking since last season.

“Following the departure of Deon Woodman, we wanted to bring in a ready-made replacement and Dion brings a wealth of experience, strong leadership qualities and a proven track record of success. We believe he will be an excellent addition to the squad.

“I am also extremely pleased with the business we have completed this summer. Following the departure of several important players, it was vital that we added both quality and experience, and I believe we have done that.

“Patience has been key throughout the window. We have taken our time to recruit the right players, and we are very happy with the group we have assembled ahead of the new season.”

Muskwe, 27 (pictured on the right above), has recently been training with Wealdstone.

He began his career at Leicester and has since played for Luton, Harrogate and Finnish club IFK Mariehamn, as well as on loan at Swindon, Fleetwood, Wycombe and Exeter. He spent last season with Morecambe.

“Admiral has been with us for a few weeks now and has impressed everyone with his attitude and application,” said Waddock.

“He gives us another strong option at the top end of the pitch, and his pace and power will make him a valuable addition to the squad.

“He has settled into the group well and has already shown in pre-season what he can offer. We’re delighted to have him on board and look forward to working with him.”
